The roof renovation was completed at the beginning of September 2016.
The construction work was completed 6 weeks ahead of schedule and was completed at the beginning of September.
In cooperation with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Sonnenkinderprojekt Namibia e. V. invested in the renovation of the roofs of the Swakopmund Primary School. Due to the weather, the roofs had become permeable to water. There was considerable moisture damage with mould in the classrooms. A renovation was urgently necessary for health reasons, which the Namibian state could not carry out alone. The total investment amounted to over 56,000 euros, which is broken down as follows:
Total expenditure:
€ 56.484,76
BMZ share (bengo):
€ 41.703,75
Share of the Sonnenkinderprojekt Namibia e.V.:
€ 11.652,90
Share of the Swakopmund Primary School (state share):
€ 3.128,11
Due to the extensive renovations, classes in classrooms infested with mould are no longer held.
The Sonnenkinderprojekt Namibia e.V. would like to thank the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (bengo), the schoolboard of Swakopmund Primary School and the architectural office Miller for the excellent cooperation.
